Search Conduit Spyware/Adware Removal Tool

5/23/2014

If you've started to notice your system slowing down and not responding, there may be a chance you have some nasty spyware manifesting itself on your computer.

Recently, I noticed that Google Chrome was not responding with the normal quickness I'm used to. So I fired up Firebox and noticed the problem - SEARCH CONDUIT!

This may not mean anything to you at the outset, but this search program often will replace Google or Bing as your Search engine for your browser and will bury itself in your system files, folders, registry and even in Internet Browser.

To clean this off of your system along with other annoying Spyware, click on my latest YouTube video to see how to run AdWCleaner.

To download the free tool, go to:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/dl/125/

Thank you and have a great day!

Windows XP End of Life

3/21/2014

On April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer security updates to WIndows XP. XP has been around along time and has had a good run.

However, it is time to put it to rest. The initial end of life for XP was supposed to be in 2009. Microsoft extended it for 5 years.

What does this mean for you?

  • XP will continue to function.
  • However, no more monthly security updates will be provided.
  • To protect you, you can upgrade to Windows 7 and above. I suggest WIndows 7 because the Windows 8 interface is a bust and Windows 9 will be out in 2015.

The attached article will offer suggestions on how to upgrade your system. Upgrading can be a little tricky. Let us assist you with that migration to a secure operating system.

FREE & Simple iPhone Backup Apps

iBackup App

If you are looking for an alternative to iCloud that is free, the iBackup app may be for you.

Click link below to download from Apple App Store:

The app comes with 5GB of free storage space.  Additionally, it will back up the four most critical components on any iPhone:

  • Calendar Backup
  • Pictures
  • Videos Backup
  • Contacts
  • Auto Camera Upload if selected

The iBackup app is friendly and easy to use. The screenshot to the left offers you a view of the interface on your iPhone.

From the settings gear icon in the app, you can set the reminder on how often the app should backup your selected data.

I did notice that when backing up pictures and videos, it does take awhile on the initial backup.

The restore process is solid. This is a great tool to keep your most important iPhone components backed up safely to the cloud!

Contact Backup Free

A second app that will only backup your contacts to the cloud and/or .VCF format is called Contact Backup Free. This is another free tool that works great and is easy to use.

Click link below to download from Apple App Store:

Contact Backup Free Download Link

The interface is super easy to use. Once the app is downloaded you click on the Backup icon on the bottom and it sends all your contacts to the Cloud.

An additional feature that I thought was nice is the Email feature.  Once the backup is completed, you can select the Email button at the bottom of the screen and send your contacts to your email address.

That is handy because all of your contacts will then be saved as a .VCF file as an attachment in email.

If you lose a contact, simply go to  your e-mail and click on the .VCF file and all contacts will be restored to your iPhone.

The only thing that you have to contend with is the ads that run at the top. But the app is fully functional!

Summary:

Both of these apps are great to keep your iPhone data backed up with little hassle! If you need any assistance feel free to give us a call! We are always willing to assist in untangling your technology knots!
